jessica-brookshire-crowningOn Sunday, August 2nd, the City of Prattville crowned Jessica Brookshire Miss Fountain City for 2010. Jessica hails from Snellville, Georgia. She has achieved a Bachelor of Arts in International Trade and Spanish with a minor in Political Science from Auburn University. She will begin a Masters of Arts program in Spanish at Auburn University later this month. Jessica's goal is to obtain a law degree and become a practicing attorney in International Law. She is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society, Sigma Delta Pi National Spanish Honor Society, Pi Lambda Sigma Pre-Law Honor Society, and Delta Epsilon Iota Honor Society. She is the fundraising director of the Golden Key International Honor Society, Sister of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority and Director of Zeta's Annual Philanthropy Event, Big Man on Campus.

Jessica performed beautifully on the piano for the talent portion of the pageant competition. Her platform is K.A.R.M.A.-Kids Against Ridicule, Meanness, and Agression. Jessica enjoys dancing and studying music, spending time with her dog and traveling. She has studied and lived abroad (in Spain) for five months. She has one older sister and two younger brothers.

The pageant was honored to have Miss Alabama 2009, Liz Cochran, act as emcee for the event. Liz is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Dance at Birmingham-Southern College. She plans to attend medical school. Liz has a long list of accomplishments that are truly impressive. She was the 2009 Miss Alabama Swimsuit Preliminary winner, the 2009 Miss America Community Service Recipient; she received the American All-Star National Choreography Award in 2008 and 2009, just to name a few. Her platform issue is "With Every Beat" Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease. Liz was beautiful, gracious, and poised throughout the entire event.

The pageant was privileged to have a distinguished selection panel of judges. Head Judge Deborah Williford has been a cheer and dance coach for 28 years. She coached two state championship squads and had three squads place in the top 7 at National Competition. While studying at Troy University, she distinguished herself as a varsity cheerleader, campus beauty, and SGA Senator. She has been the Pageant Director for the Little Miss Wetumpka Pageants for four years and Pageant Director for Miss Warrior for 14 years. She also served as the Pageant Director for Campus Beauty for 12 years. This is not Deborah's first experience in a judging capacity having judged both state and local pageants over the past few years.

Judge Brenda Campbell has over 17 years of volunteer service with the Miss Alabama Pageant including Director of the Miss Troy University Pageant (a Miss Alabama Preliminary), Miss Teen Trojan Pageant, (a Miss Alabama Outstanding Teen Preliminary), and as a Miss Alabama Preliminary Judge. She also directs the Miss City of Troy (a Miss National Peanut Festival Preliminary) and the Miss Venus Pageant. Brenda has a total of more than 30 years pageant experience and in 2007 was named Director of the Year by the Miss Alabama Organization. Brenda serves as a scholarship judge for numerous county Junior Miss programs and is a national scholarship judge for the Miss America's Outstanding Teen Pageant.

Judge Bart Sorrell is a 20+ year volunteer with the Miss Alabama/Miss America Organization serving in the capacities of special entertainment, production coordinator, local Director and Judge. He is currently the Executive Director of the Miss Chattahoochee Valley/Miss Painted Rock pageants which just celebrated their 71st year of involvement with the Miss America Organization. This pageant has also been host to recent Miss Alabama Julie Smith in 1999 and Miss Alabama Jamie Langley in 2007. In 2004, Bart was selected and recognized as Director of the Year at that year's Miss Alabama Pageant. He is well trained in all facets of the arts with emphasis on vocal performance, piano/instrumental, and theatre. Bart is a certified Miss America Judge and has judged state and local pageants in 9 states. He has attended the Miss America Pageant for 14 consecutive years with the Alabama delegation and has plans on attending this January.

Judge David Hagood anchors "CBS 8 This Morning." David first joined CBS 8 News in June 2005. He is a native of Selma and attended Troy State University. David began his career at WSFA in Montgomery as a weather and news anchor. He also serves as Communications Director for the Dallas County Board of Education in Selma. David has judged numerous pageants throughout the state and has also judged programs associated with the America's Junior Miss Program.

Judge Carroll Simmons McClammy is a native of Alabama. She was a professional model in the 1980s. She received her training from Mannequin School of Modeling. She has taught fashion merchandising and modeling at Birmingham Southern Institute. Carroll has judged pageants for over twenty years. She is associated with the Miss America Organization as a local judge.
